Assoc Prof Jamus Jerome Lim asked the Minister for Manpower (a) when is the last time the Government reviewed its position on the number of public holidays in Singapore; and (b) whether the Government is amenable to review its position at the present time.
Dr Tan See Leng: The current configuration of public holidays in Singapore has been in place since 1968. Our calendar of public holidays reflects our multi-religious and multi-cultural society. This approach has served us well.
There are currently no plans to review the number of public holidays.
